Hello! Elizabeth’s new intern Christine here, posting this weeks Fine Art Friday featuring the very talented Jerry Uelsman. Uelsmann’s work blends reality with fantasy causing the viewer to look at an image more deeply to appreciate it’s multiple layers. His photos take time to digest. His mystical pictures create unrealistic yet beautiful ideas. He photographs multiple subjects separately and then manipulates them into one breathtaking sceneQuick Bio: Jerry was born in Detroit and received his B.F.A degree at the Rochester Institute of Technology and his M.S and M.F.A. at Indiana University. He began his career by teaching photography at the University of Florida in Gainesville in 1960. Then he went on to become a graduate research professor of art at the university in 1974.
If his work piques you’re interest, you don’t have to look too far. His wife Maggie Taylor makes you feel like you have fallen into the proverbial rabbit hole. (Spoiler alert to next weeks post!)
